Find a factory and get their pallets. Most factories are either trashing them or are sending them back to a pallet company for free. Pallets are a nuisance.

My buddy and I have been building some beds, im trying to find a good source for cheap lumber for buckets and or lumber to build pallet style beds. I'm in the western Ky area, and help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Look around at any construction site & check their "dumpsters" ... usually lots of odds/ends pieces of lumber in those, and possibly even pallets.
Check stores like Lowe's etc. they just throw there's away after they get there shipments in.

I don't build much anymore but when I did, I made friends with the local Amish saw mill guy that would save his rough cut thin scraps and sell them to me for little-to-nothing. If we had to buy more we'd only pay $100 for an entire banded bundle of rough cut lumber and then rip the 6" boards down with a table saw.
