Thanks guys for the response. I've got the Bucks mini reels right now. I'm goin to the cheapest smallest spinning reel I can find. I don't understand the intended use of the Bucks reels.

They are there to hold and wind up line. They serve their purpose.

Im using the uncle bucks spinning reels, I really like em!
Call grizzly jig and ask for the cheapest spinning reels they have. I got some ht enterprise reels there a few years back for under $5 but never seen them on there website. If u want something quick I'll 2nd the cheap shimanos at Walmart with the rear drag. It's nice to loosen the drag up real quick on 3 or 4 poles when going thru those t-vile mine fields.
I'll go with the folks suggesting the baitcasting reels for three main reasons. 1) I have been using the same reels for years. They last forever. I found these small profile Bill Dance Diawa bait casters on sale at Grizzly Jigs for about $20 each and they have caught tons of fish in regular fishing and tournaments and have never failed me. 2) The retrieve ratio is quick which is very handy, 3) setting correct depth for trolling is easy. I marked 1 ft and 2 ft lengths on my rods and easily get the line to the length of the rod and pull out quickly and carefully the length of line needed to return to the correct depth easily. This makes it super easy when fishing deeper than the rod length, and I never have to mess with the drag. (I've tried spinning reels but sold them and went back to baitcasters.)

Might depend on how many rods you need the reels for ....
If I was gonna spider rig AND push/pull cranks or jigs ... and my rods were OK for that ... I'd give serious consideration to the Shakespeare ATS Trolling reels from Northwoods Wholesale Outlet @ $25 apiece.
Now, it's true those reels are about twice as much as a Shimano IX1000R ... so, if you were only going to spider rig with them, then maybe the Shimano would be the better choice.
I only have 3 long rods (14') and use a 10' spinning rod for the 4th rod (sometimes) ... and all my long rods have baitcast reels with thumb bars, and I bought those reels from the member Locater79 off the Personal Classifieds. They are all different brands, but I've used different baitcast & spinning reels for so long ... it doesn't bother me to switch back & forth between them.
bait casters ran across a good deal on Daiwa Lagunas a while back and got 8 of them. low profile and thumb bar I like them
smiles are contagious, spread them around

Been rigging for a lot of years and have tried every kind of reel out there. Finally settled on Bass Pro's crappie max spinning reels. If you watch for sales, you can get them for 17.99. Good drag and a solid little reel. Don't really think brand matters as much as line. Most people over fill their spinning reels and get a lot of twist. Spider rigging you only need your spools about half full because normally you are fishing no deeper than 20 ft. and you don't get the twist as bad. A good 10 to 12 lb high vis mono works great
