Taylorsville 10/13
I was wanting to try my new Southern Crappie rods out so I decided to take a trip to Taylorsville to do some spider rigging. Well the day did not start out so good . I was not a mile from the house when I looked in my rear view mirror and seen a rod sticking straight up in the air. Looked out the side mirror and seen the bottom section dragging the ground. I get pulled over and go collect the 3 pieces of what was a 2 piece rod and throw it in the back of the truck. Then I put the bungee cord on that I forgot to do. At lest it was not one of my new rods. Then when I get to the ramp I put my drain plug in then go to take the motor totter off and when I do I hit the drain plug with it and break off the plastic tab of it. Oh well plugs in let's go fishing. I get to my first spot and the wind in blowing into it at about 15 mph so much for the forecast of 5 mph. I get my rods out and fight the wind for about 30 minuets with nothing to show for it. I hit 3 more spot and pick up 3 or 4 shorts. Not looking so good I make a pretty good run back up the lake and put my rods back out and almost a immediately pick up a keeper on my outside rod. Then another short on that same rod right as I went around a tree with it. About that time a light goes off. I put up all the spider rigging stuff and went one pole jigging timber and in the next 2 hours pick up 40 mostly shorts but did get 10 keepers. Not one of my better days fishing this year but it was still a great day. As I was running back to the ramp I remembered something my dad would tell me Son the fish will tell you what they want all you have to do is listen to them.
