If you're talking about "pushing" jigs or Spider Rigging ...
I don't think I'd use one of those gold colored snap swivel deals, but "maybe" a duo-lock snap for the hook or jig.
I tie my jig heads on 12-18" leaders, with a loop knot on the opposite end .... then wrap them around a section of pool noodle. My weight is a egg sinker that's on the main line, then a bead, and then a duo-lock snap. All I do is open the snap & slip on a pre-tied leader and jig head, close the snap, slide on whatever color/shape plastic body I want to use ... and I'm good to go.
I don't do enough "long line" trolling to comment (and what little I do, I tie direct to the jig), and if I was going to actually fish a "drop shot" rig like it was meant to be fished ... I'd use the Stand-out Hooks. If I was going to use it like a KY Lake Rig (weight on bottom, with the hook up the line a ways) I'd tie a loop knot for the hook/jig.
I just don't like having any more "hardware" involved than is absolutely necessary. Less stuff to get snagged, tangled up in, and less knots to fail.
