This all started a day or so before Christmas. We were having bad storms and Vicki is terrified of storms after her family survived a direct hit from a tornado when she was a child. She was home so I locked up the shop for a couple of hours to come home. While I was here, she got a phone call from a co-worker who has lower arena season tickets to UK. Seems she and her husband had to be out of town Saturday and wanted to know if we would like to use their tickets to the UK-UL game? She didn't have to ask twice.
We had already planned on being in St Louis on Sunday for the 3 PM concert by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Those tickets(center stage on the floor 14 rows back)were our Christmas presents to each other.(Along with a Tilley wide-brim fishing hat I couldn't resist buying for Vicki. Got an insane deal on it on eBay)
As we were driving back from Lexington, right after dark, I caught a moving flash of white in my lane---no time to react before I dead-centered a skunk in her Escape. Of course it had to spray the underside of the car and the roads that had been soaking wet all day were now mostly dry. Her vehicle NEVER sits outside the garage when she is home. It did last night since I didn't want the new boat and everything else in the garage to smell like road-killed skunk. Maybe the heavy rain would wash it off?
When I told her we would be driving my truck to St.Louis, she said she refused to ride that far in it until I took disinfectant wipes and cleaned the residue from 2 chocolate labs off the insides of it. I got soaked moving her Escape from in front of her garage door and pulling my FX4 into her garage parking space. She got her way and the inside front 1/2 of the interior has been wiped down. Me, I just deal with it. I can't say the truck doesn't smell better than 2 wet labs.
We are headed north into the teeth of what looks like a monsoon on radar. I just hope we can get a spot INSIDE the parking garage at Scottrade Center. We had to park what seemed like a mile from Rupp Arena yesterday but luckily it had stopped raining after the game. Doubt we will be that lucky today.
It's always something!
