Default On the road again. Might should take the boat.

This all started a day or so before Christmas. We were having bad storms and Vicki is terrified of storms after her family survived a direct hit from a tornado when she was a child. She was home so I locked up the shop for a couple of hours to come home. While I was here, she got a phone call from a co-worker who has lower arena season tickets to UK. Seems she and her husband had to be out of town Saturday and wanted to know if we would like to use their tickets to the UK-UL game? She didn't have to ask twice.

We had already planned on being in St Louis on Sunday for the 3 PM concert by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Those tickets(center stage on the floor 14 rows back)were our Christmas presents to each other.(Along with a Tilley wide-brim fishing hat I couldn't resist buying for Vicki. Got an insane deal on it on eBay)

As we were driving back from Lexington, right after dark, I caught a moving flash of white in my lane---no time to react before I dead-centered a skunk in her Escape. Of course it had to spray the underside of the car and the roads that had been soaking wet all day were now mostly dry. Her vehicle NEVER sits outside the garage when she is home. It did last night since I didn't want the new boat and everything else in the garage to smell like road-killed skunk. Maybe the heavy rain would wash it off?

When I told her we would be driving my truck to St.Louis, she said she refused to ride that far in it until I took disinfectant wipes and cleaned the residue from 2 chocolate labs off the insides of it. I got soaked moving her Escape from in front of her garage door and pulling my FX4 into her garage parking space. She got her way and the inside front 1/2 of the interior has been wiped down. Me, I just deal with it. I can't say the truck doesn't smell better than 2 wet labs.

We are headed north into the teeth of what looks like a monsoon on radar. I just hope we can get a spot INSIDE the parking garage at Scottrade Center. We had to park what seemed like a mile from Rupp Arena yesterday but luckily it had stopped raining after the game. Doubt we will be that lucky today.

    It's always something!

I hope your trip to SL is uneventful. I know you will enjoy the TSO.

My bride and I made it home last night at about 10:00 after deciding to push straight through on the way back from Savannah. I am glad we did as we dodged the rain all the way home except for just a few sprinkles coming over the mountain at Monteagle TN.

    Drive carefully.

Hope the trip was a good one. I nailed a skunk in my MIL's car years ago, when I pulled into her garage, it would about knock you down, so her car sat outside for several days. Never heard the end of that until she passed. I told her it was something to remember me by.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Just rolled in. There was a bad truck wreck near Marion,IL on I-57 that caused us to detour thru the Crab Orchard NWR.

St.Louis is one of my least favorite places to drive on a sunny day, much less a stormy night with driving rain. Apparently they don't know what reflectors for the lanes on roads are for. Next to impossible to see lanes.

We got to the Scottrade Center well before 2 PM. The show was at 3 and they normally open the doors an hour before the show. We stood in line for nearly an hour, luckily inside the parking garage, until we finally got from the parking garage, thru security, and inside at 3 PM. We had just found our seats when the show started.

I'm glad it's over and we made both trips without a scratch(except for the poor skunk). Back to the real world in the morning. May need an ark to get to the shop.

Glad to here you made it through your adventures. Always wanted to see TSO. I hate driving in St. Louis. How is the boat going? Saw you a few weeks ago and tried to flag you down to take a gander at the boat but you passed be bye like I wasn't even there. LOL

Were you on the LBL side? You should have yelled at me or thrown a rock. I was afraid the few fishermen out there weren't happy about me boat riding. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger Buddy. I did the same thing to Dean.
