Thread: rhino line boat

I had a 2000 175 Tracker and I had the Armourthane marine coating put on it. There is a dealer located in Columbia, Ky that does a lot of work on the houseboat industry. I really liked it.

I put in wood grain Hydroturf in mine after stripping out the bed liner. It is super. Hoses right off, is cooler, is softer so it doesn't tear up your gear or feet, and it made the boat quieter.

You can find seconds online that aren't terribly priced. It may cost more than the bed liner in a can stuff but I found it to be many, many times better and is holding up much better than carpet.

Smashdn, when you say find seconds online, what do you exactly mean? Used stuff from random people? Or hydroturf selling scrap? Someone else?

Im curious because Im about to start decking my boat and cant decide between hydroturf, carpet, some other liner, etc. Thanks for the help.

Hydroturf has facotry seconds that they sell. I ordered three full size sheets without adhesive and did my whole boat (minus the bilge/battery area behind the bench seat) including down the vertical portion of the rear bench and front deck. I think I ended up with half a sheet left. Boat is a 1752.

Two years with it in there and I have had zero problems with it. I was afraid it would pull up since I used regular spray adhesive you can get from Advance Auto but it has not budged one bit. I am pleased with it. Wife and dog like it much better too

Lowe's has some nice marine carpet that doesn't cost too much.

Rees....sorry for late response. Custom boats here in Illinois. Called plate boats because they were originally 4x8 sheets of aluminum plate design for commercial fisherman

Hydroturf seconds are usually cosmetic blems. Not bad enough that anyone would ever notice but they can't sell it to retailers.
I have a rubberized factory sprayed liner in my boat. Not sure how it could be any heavier than any other full covering coating because it isn't that thick. No problems here from it being too rough but the harder bedliner materials probably would be. Even though it is OD green, it is much cooler than the same colored painted surfaces.

Check out what War Eagle does with their boats. I bought a new 860 a couple years ago and had the Gator hide sprayed in and I love it. They have two options either the spray in or the glue down and I opted for the spray because my old boat had the glue down and it was junk. It peels up after a while and cracks. Gator hide is similar to Rhino lining but is for boats. And it is not as thick as Rhino lining so it isn't heavy. If you were to have it Rhino lined you could have it sprayed with a thin layer and it would last as long as you own the boat. I have absolutely no problems with mine. The camo pattern matches the boat. But I'm sure you are going to want some other color. As far as it getting hot I have not had that problem. Good luck with what ever you decide.
