Wanting to learn how to fish on the river
I live on the Green River near the mouth to the Ohio River. I have never done anything other than catfish on the rivers. I now have a better boat and electronics. Can anyone advise me as to how to fish for Crappie or gills on the river? There are no creeks flowing into the Green River within 20 river miles big enough to "fish the mouth of a creek". I do know of some bluff walls that boulder had fallen from. Anyway I have no clue, heck I'm just starting to try crappie fishing in general. Looking for something for me and my aging dad to do together close to his home.
Thanks
Clint

Trump is like the guy that comes on the playground and beats up on the guys that's been pushing you around for the last 30 or 40 years.

If that's the Kentucky afield video, it's really good. I prefer jigs to minnows. You can fish faster. Most river crappie I catch are from 18" to 3' deep. Fish with a good slip float or tight line the standing channel timber. Don't get hung up on one spot. I usually don't catch a bunch from on blowdown or tree top. I like to get in the channel and fish the vertical stuff. With the motor set on 20% or so, and cover water. Keep at it and you will catch some nice ones. As long as the river is stable u can can catch em shallow all year. Use a thill pro series bobber; they work really well. If ther r any marinas around they can be loaded. Vertical jig the brush if there is any. If not just cover water. Good luck
