COE website chart says Barren is 17.8ft above Winter Pool (ie - 9.2ft below Summer Pool) so that's a pretty good eyeball guess !!

Didn't get out on the lake but I will report what I saw.
Lake looked to be about 10-12 foot below summer pool. Browns Ford area had good color. Good clear green color.
Drove down to the state park and it was yoohoo colored. On way back home noticed lots of small drift in mats on main lake near 31-E bridge. Water yoohoo colored there too. Somewhere between there and braowns ford the water clears up significantly.
A few rigs at Browns Ford. None at State Park ramp.

WOW! This lake has 30 feet between winter and summer pool?? And I thought the water levels changed like crazy on ky and barkley!

The water level at Barren changes rapidly. With a huge rain like we have had some years, it might change 20 ft in two days. Did I say it sometimes changes rapidly? LOL In the past the COE have closed some ramps because of high water levels, bathrooms have been under water, other times people launch in the parking lots, and have been known to catch fish in the parking lots when the water is high.
That's unbelievable! I can't imagine having to try and predict fish patterns with that kind of level fluctuations. Gotta be a real PITA. So do you guys have stump beds, sand bars, and the like to deal with at winter pool like we do over here on the big lakes? If so I'd think that'd make it down right dangerous if you wasn't real familiar with the lake

Can be dangerous at times...I had to pull at least three boats off the old road bed going up peters creek last spring when the water had just covered it a few inches. Most know its there but many do not. In my opinion it really should be marked better for those that are unaware.
IMO, it is safer in winter (at winter pool). The water is where it is deep enough run for the most part. Down in the main lake you can run where you want for the most part. On the upper end is where you can end up on a stump at the channel edge.
It is different than Barkley where you can be in the cahnnel and 35' and then up on the ledge in 3' or less.
The old road beds are the areas where I see issues. The one in peter creek, the old 31-e bridge across the main lake, the old bridge up around brown's ford. There is one in coon creek too but I doubt any is running on plane where it is.
On the upside it is very easy to take a handheld gps and mark stuff that is high and dry in winter in order to fish in summer. You can also make brushpiles on the dry land fairly easy if you are inclined.
It's a pain when trying to put out brush pikes for sure. Do you put out piles to fish at summer pool! (If so, they are high and dry at winter pool and everyone sees them). Do you place it to fish when the lake is at winter pool? If you do, summers your stuff is 30-40' deep! And times like now, water has risen to high to make most spots productive. You have to adjust to the water levels constantly.
