We've had 3 guys get on here and mention moving the Ky / Barkley Tourney up a little because the fishing should be better. Now here is where it gets a little confusing????
Slabeye, I'm having a hard time understanding why you feel you need to voice a opinion when you've already stated that it will have NO BEARING ON YOU since you will be working all the weekends that month anyway. I can't speak for whiskers or slabdaddy but after fishing these lakes for over 40 years I can tell you that the fishing should be better earlier in the spring than when we currently have the PROPOSED tourney scheduled. I thought the whole deal of starting up these tourneys was to get participation and for more of a social atmosphere not the tourney atmosphere. If folks are wanting the tournament atmosphere they need to put on their big boy britches and dip their lines on one of the CUSA tournaments or CrappieMasters tournaments when you will be fishing against 150 + boats not 20-40 boats.
As far as the hunting goes... I am as passionate about my hunting as I am about my crappie fishing (yes I'm guilty) and try to maximize my time with my family first and then use as much time as I can be allowed to spend on the water or in the woods..
If this is a all in or nothing then I guess you can count on one less boat because I'm planning on fishing bigger tournaments and I have no intentions of driving 5 hrs. to fish for 1 day when I can be chasing turkeys..

    OR, how about :

    Ky Lake.....march 8th

    Cumberland .....march 22nd

Since it seems several people want to get this thing started early .... & this would put 2 weeks between each of the first few events - KY Lake tourney & the Cumberland tourney & the Green River Spring Fling (& likely a month or more between the KY Lake tourney & the Spring Shindig --- and 3 weeks between the Cumberland tourney & the Spring Fling @ Green).

Then it might be possible to move Taylorsville up to early/mid May ... leave Green in early/mid June ... Barren in Sept ... Fall Brawl & Ky Lake Shindig in Oct ... and add another lake for Nov.

That still spreads the lakes between the central & western areas, puts a minimum of 2 weeks between any two events, doesn't conflict with local CUSA tourneys, and doesn't seem to conflict with any major holidays.

well first thing i can care less when it is at ky lake. i was just putting dates up going by what people had posted. and more said mid to late march and pappy's first posted about early may. so if you have read BEFOREHAND i had no opinion about ky lake and you would know i was talking about MAY and not MARCH.

ALL opinions are acceptable, whether there's an intention of fishing any one of the tourneys, or not. SO ... keep on subject, voice your opinion on that subject, period. Leave the personal disagreements out of this discussion. Let's keep it civil & agree to disagree !!

And, to the status of these "tournaments" .... they are tournaments, not social gatherings ... "those" are the Shindigs & Fling/Brawl events. They are, in fact, a precursor to a club ... provided we can get enough interest in them to show that a club would get enough members to be a viable endeavor. There's just no way we can have EVERY tournament at the "best" time for that lake, and not conflict with other events.

Pappy, what order were the lakes voted in? It might make sense to fish them in the order they were voted in to get this thing off to a good start. You would think the lakes with the most votes would have the highest turnout. Or start with the highest voted lake in the east then fish the highest voted lake in the west. Just my opnion.

I don't care when we fish but march 8 and 22 are same dates as ckca. don't know how many fish these tournaments.
The only thing better than a day of fishing. Is a week of fishing.

How they placed in the votes.
    1. Green
    2. Ky/Cumberland (Tie)
    3. Barren
    4. Taylorsville

I had suggested this myself. But some would like to have Ky and Cumberland earlier for better fish/safety, which is fine with me. I'll catch fish either way .

    Pappy suggested:

    Ky lake - March 8
    Cumberland - March 22
    Taylorsville - May ?
    Green - June ?
    Barren - Sept ?

    Or, what about:

    Cumberland - Feb 22
    Ky lake - March 15
    Taylorsville - May ?
    Green - June ?
    Barren - Sept ?

This is just my suggestion. This way we are not trying to cram two tourneys into one month. The one That Pappy suggested works for me as well. Just trying to give different options. I will say that i have heard that Barren can be tough in Sept. I don't know, only have fished Barren a few times and it was in the spring.
