Waking other boats in the act of fishing can be illegal in Kentucky, pending which lake you happen to be on:

    ON ALL KENTUCKY FISH
    & WILDLIFE-OWNED/
    MANAGED LAKES:
    Boaters must use idle speed
    (slowest speed possible to maintain
    maneuverability of a boat)
    when passing another boat with
    an occupant actively engaged in
    fishing.

ctf58 I was on Blood River too this weekend. I really think it would of been very difficult to keep 200 yards from a fisherman so I certainly understand your frustration. I too was working a bank on Sunday and came up on a boat twice that was anchored along the bank each time I was planning on going around him away from the bank. I was long line trolling, each time I talked to him as he went around me and he actually moved before I had a chance to go around him. Just small talk about what fish we weren't catching. This man had to be the most polite person I ever met. Too bad we don't hear more about those fisherman. It is kind of funny though when you think about it. Once this weekend I stopped at a ledge out on Kentucky Lake. I not a boat in site all of a sudden there were three boats around me and again almost that quick all three were gone. I just don't get too excited anymore if I catch fish. great. If not life goes on. I won't let someone ruin my time on the lake. I didn"t talk to anyone that was catching a lot of crappie perhaps the bite adds to the frustration.

Unfortunately that situation is what you get when people keep reading advice of "just look for the boats and you'll find the fish".

You can look at the number of people viewing any particular forum on here and there is most always 20+ people looking at Kentucky pretty much any time you log on. Many of those aren't even members, just internet scouters looking for a hot tip on where to go. That's why you'll never see me give anyone fishing reports or area tips here for general consumption. I keep those to PM's. I learned that lesson a long time ago on duck hunting forums. If you don't like company, don't put an open invite out to the world.

I know one person from Ohio had fun trying to get their truck and trailer out to load their boat Saturday. That's why the state has parking spots painted on the lot and if you cared to look, you would have seen that there's not one right at the top of the ramp, numbskull.

Guy had the whole ramp blocked with his trailer after parking sideways right in front it so he wouldn't have to walk.

Welcome to KY Lake. Learn some manners.

Things like that are what I run into most or people that back down the ramp then proceed to make their boat ready to launch. I've seen times when they take 10 to 15 minutes loading gear and so fourth.

I see the people that park on the ramp to get ready a lot too. What frosted me was this guy had just taken off and said to heck with anyone else that wanted to launch or needed to load up to leave until he decided that he was done for the day.

I saw a pick-up that belonged to a commercial fisherman with a piece of limestone rip-rap deposited into the windshield when it was left blocking access to a public ramp. Granted, I had nothing to do with it but would be lying if I said I haven't thought about that same thing happening in similar situations.
