Yellow perch. Good eating if you can get into some that are big enough.
Strangely enough, BR is the only place that I've ever caught them.

I caught a few in Jonathan this past weekend. Put these back but have eaten them before and they were good.
I catch 2-3 of em each year fishing north KY Lake....usually on minnows...
I throw them back hoping that someday they will proliferate like the blue gill has...

I agree with the great eating!!! Have it a couple times a year up north when we visit the in-laws. Wish they would take off down here as well!!!!
Up in Lake Michigan My fatherinlaw used to catch em. Thats a yellow perch and there are whites also. I caught one bluegill fishing last May near Big Bear. Up north they get a lot bigger than I have caught but they are tasty. I think they school and run deep generally liking colder temp waters.

I moved from Milwaukee Wisconsin to Kentucky 6 years ago and the Lake Michigan Yellow Perch fishing was ON back then. It wasn't hard to get 5 keepers in the first hour of daylight(The Daily Limit was 5) Yes only 5 but we would get them up to 16" and my keeper size was 10" to 13" the rest I would let go. Even out of Lake Michigan the Yellow Perch tasted Grrrrrrrreat !
Cool. I've never seen a yellow perch in Kentucky. We used to catch a ton on Lake Erie with my uncle. Jumbo sized. Would catch two at a time with an umbrella type rig. And yes, VERY fine eating. Wish they were thick here in Kentucky, but have not seen one in the lakes i primarily fish (Rough,Nolin,Taylorsville).
I've caught them in both lakes over the years but they don't seem to grow well here. All that I've caught we're about the size of the one in the OP photo.
