we are staying close to the ken./tenn. state line and was wondering what would be are best bet for catching fish. crappie is fine but with the wife and kids anything that bites is good. never been to ken. lake before so any ideas would be helpful. thanks
You might catch some catfish jugging or try tightlining on main channel right where it begins to drop off.
Bass will bite early & late. Probably better after dark.
Have to be careful with the heat, can't stay out there too long. Some pop up storms have been come up the last couple of days in the afternoon. Kentucky can get real rough in a hurry. Take plenty of cold water.
thanks bronson. is it to late for the white bass bite? we missed ours up here the river stayed lower the usual and with the drought our spots didn't pan out.
It's all Kentucky Browngrass around here.
Even though it's been 100+ degrees, until just recently, some members have been catching Crappie ... fishing at night, under lights, with minnows (Green River Lake). Another member has been catching a mixed bag of Crappie, & White Bass, fishing under the lights of docks at night with minnows or jigs (Herrington). So .... I see no reason why you couldn't put the wife & kids on some Bluegill (crickets, waxworms, piece of nightcrawler) under slipfloats --- or possibly troll some jigs for White Bass, Crappie, or whatever ... on KY Lake.
Solunar tables indicate the best hours are during the 6-8AM period (over the next few days) ... if you're into that stuff.

You should be able to find some white bass jumps. You can also find hybrids and stripes on some of the ledges just south of the Paris Landing bridge sometimes.
thanks for the feed back. we will be down there on monday. i hope to make it out every morning not sure about the wife and kids. never tried night fishing before might have to give it a shot.
I think I'd hold off on night fishing until you've had a little more experience doing it. If the wife & kids aren't "all that into" fishing ... unless they're biting fairly frequently ... I suggest staying someplace near a playground, beach, putt putt golf course, or some activity they'd be interested in.
Last report I heard was that most fishing (catching) was being done on the "ledges" (creek/river channel edges) out in the deeper water. Even without a map or high end electronics, you can still notice how/where everyone else is fishing ... and get like'em !!
