Hey Littlejohn,
They are in the middle of spawning. But we have had so many cold fronts come thru in
the last two months where its been so warm. They start then back out, start and back out. Seams
like they have been spawning off and on for a month and a half. Catching them from 3ft to 20 ft.
Spidder rigging, vertical jigging, trolling every way you can think of. I am going to try and be down
Friday morning myself to fish alittle. I wll be up in one of Joeys kamper cabins. With the rain chances
they are calling for this week it may rise alittle. but one good thing about green is it takes a couple
of days to start mudding up if it rains hard enough. See ya there.

If I make it , it won't be until around 1:00 My 13 year old son and me.
What can I bring last minute ? Fillet knife for sure
Anyone considered name tags with your handle on it? Would be helpful for a simple mind like mine to learn names
Just so I know I'm thinking right ... and for general FYI for some others that may not have factored this into their plans :
If it takes me 2hrs to drive down there, from Lexington ... and I leave "here" at 0530H ... I will arrive at Holmes Bend at 0630H. Yeah, I know, that don't add up ... until you consider that Holmes Bend is in a different time zone than Lexington, and are an hour earlier. So it would be 0730 EST "my time", when I got there ... but 0630 CST "their time".
Since we're basing our start & stop times on the "local" time (CST zone) ... I just don't want anyone getting there 1hr late, unless they can't avoid doing so. Just want everyone to be aware of the time difference, so they'll get there in time to meet/greet & get some last minute info/tips on catching some fish ... and when to be back for cleaning/cooking duties ... and FEASTING on some fresh caught GRL Slabs !!
It's my hope & plan to make a "go/no go" decision by midday Friday 27th ... based on the (then) latest weather forecast. I'm as pumped as anyone else, about having the Slabfeast ... but, I'll be considering the comfort & safety of all involved, above anything. As this is a voluntary attendance event ... everyone is liable for their own decision to participate, and any outcome of that decision.
