Gonna drill the holes at a slight angle so that the rod holder will lean back away from the cross bar jusssssst a little bit.Originally Posted by gabowman

Oh I also drilled small holes in the end caps on the bottom of the holders so they won't hold water.
Also thought about drill'n a small hole at the top so you can insert the hook and snug the line up. this will hold the rods in the holder if you hit a big wave at high speed.

Don't know if this will help but here is that fitting that I was talking about. Just gives you something to think about. It could be plumbed in to the holder. Here ya go!
