I've taken my son twice in the last couple of weeks and have caught a few each time but they were small. I'm fishing under a light around structure in 20ft of water but can't get anything worth bringing home. I have spent most of the time outside Beaver Creek and want to know if you all think I need to go into the trees more- up in the creek or river and fish the edge of the channels. There are so many trees up there I really don't know where to start.
By the way we had to leave early on the 3rd when some idiot with a potato gun started zeroing in on us. The jerk was shooting them from the woods so we couldn't see him but he obviously could see us.

I usually have more success out on the main lake,set-up in the 30 to 35ft range. Also you can try the Zippo flats. Looked for your bait fish before setting up,most likely if you find the bait fish crappie will be close by. The thing about fishing the trees, there just so many of them and it is hard too picked the right trees, most of the time. Don't forget down around the Dam area.

Dont feel bad, I was on em' pretty good all last summer and now, I cant get a single shad to come around in the last couple times out. Im still catching fish but not the size and frequency you get when the shad are around. I tried different areas that usually produce around beaver and also around zilpo/alfrey area. Water and temps are right, I think the high water and lack of grass has fish doing different things this year. Im gonna go again if I can get off work but Ill let ya know if I start getting into them GOOD. Good luck, hope ya catch some.
BTW. I like points with rock on em and channels kinda close when Im after black crappie or fishin at night this time of year, and 30+ fow
