Default More Whites From KY Lake

Fishtale, aka Buschog and I went out last night and caught our limit of white bass. They are iced down and ready to be cleaned. It took a little longer than last week but we managed to throw 30 in the cooler. We lost several really nice ones, but we had a lot of fun. It's the best way to beat the heat during these hot summer days. Hopefully, I'll have some pics to post up later.

    The cleaning results:

We went again tonight, started around 9pm and we both had our limits by 12am. We caught some VERY nice whites tonight. I'll try to post pics later before we clean them.

BIGBADDAD, quackrstackr and I were there tonight. It ended up taking us until 1:45 to limit out but we finally made it. Some big dummy (ME!) threw the 1st keeper AT the livewell and it flopped back into the lake. Bad way to start a night. No current really hurt us tonight PLUS the fish wanted a totally different presentation than Wed or Thursday nights. A good time was had by all anyway.

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for the trip, mrdux.

We had some really nice fish last night as well. Bigger than what I'm used to at night.

I'm surprised that we didn't see you guys, Mep. I thought I saw you two headed out when I crossed the bridge to meet dux.

Yeah, we didn't get down there till just before dark. I thought I recognized your laugh last night. I told Buschog "that sounds like Quackr." We fished in deeper water last night. Most of our fish came out of 30 to 45 feet of water, but they were suspended. We caught some real hosses. Probably some of the biggest we have ever caught.

The freezer is starting to fill up again. At the bottom are the spring crappie, then layers of bluegill, and now we are topping it off with the white bass.

From what you said that you were fishing, you had to be close to us.

I didn't see many other people catching fish. Most of the guys said that they had caught what fish they had in jumps before it ever got dark.

There was a massive jump that erupted as soon as we shut off the lights. For whatever reason, the bait started immediately popping the top for a long way around us and the fish were right behind them. I've never seen that happen before. BBD caught a monster on a roostertail with a single blind cast out into the darkness. I bet we could have whacked on them for a few minutes.

That was a very calculated, perfectly executed backhanded cast into the abyss. Then I led the lure straight to that one certain fish.......okay, I got lucky!!!:D:D:D

Baitfish usually do that whenever we turn off the lights. I think last year we did that a few times to stimulate the fish into biting. Quacker, we were out near the main channel and never left a 50 yard radius. The water dropped from 35 to 50+ feet fairly quickly where we were at. I hope we can get a few more trips in before the fish start moving off. Two years ago we fished all the way to late July before the fish got really small, but last year we quit before the 4th of July. Catch them while you can!
