I love fishing for crappie. Next to walleye it's my favorite fresh water fish to eat, and to catch. I'm a landlubber with decent tackle, no access to a boat and about 35 miles from my nearest and very heavily fished lake, (Green River Reservoir Campbellsville, KY). No matter what time of the year I fish, not matter what kind of bait I use, not matter how hard I pray or cuss, plead and beg I can not catch crappie to save my azz, and when I do catch them I'm lucky if I catch one over 6 inches long. most I catch are under 5. Last week I drove AAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL the way up to Green River Reservoir Dam/Spillway from Hodgenville only to find they weren't letting any water out and the river was practically bone dry. I am desperate to just for once in my miserable life come home with a decent haul of some quality crappie. I can't afford to be driving all over hell's half acre so I'm trying to stay around Hodgenville and fish some local farm ponds that are rumored to contain decent fish. Any suggestions? Really, I'm desperate here. Thanks!
