Its not that I have problems catchin em. I just don't think theyre below the dam in any numbers yet, certainly not where you can get to em from the bank. You know how the crowds can be when they are biting. No one is fishing, and those who are, arent catching squat, couple hybrids and thats it. No bait in there and water is cruddy color. Me and my gf caught these two limits down there last fall about rifle season. I think the bite is a couple weeks off. I use a UL shimano sedona and 6 lb fireline. U use 1/4, and 1/2 oz jigs w/ twister tails and sometimes minnows. Have caught em on spoons and silver buddys too.

I mostly use jigs I will tip the jigs if the bite is tough or the water is super cold. Alot of the boats you see where the old bouys used to be use the silver buddies and spoons. I fish there alot and just from my experience when the water is at 21-22 feet and above,, on the lower side of the dam it is going to be tough. Also A good spot is down where the old bouys used to be is where you see slabs of rock that have a 45 degree angle sticking up out of the water is a good place also there is a deep spot there and fish about 30 foot to the left and right at that point you can find them also. I will use 3/8-1/2 oz jigs like I am casting my long rod up there in the gates but I am using my sauger stuff throwing out there and trying to go deep and bump that ledge on the way up that were I usually get them when the sun is high, and Ive caught them up to five pounds doing that I will use shad bodies white and chart and the grubs white chart pink orange smoke red you name it, all are three inch. Sometimes just tipping your jig with a nightcrawler can be killer. And your right about November that is the peak of the bite just my opinion
