Haven't been since MLK holiday and the catching had slowed down for me but Haledamage had a pretty good day and kept 22!!! OMG!!!I hope he didn't deplete the crappie population ...sorry I couldn't hold back a little sarcasm with all the comments on what started as a dock fishing report. I know I give away about 80% or more of the fish I keep to those who love crappie but can't or don't fish and yeah this can become a small problem when friends or family kinda expect a regular supply but heck just have a fish fry a couple times a year and that usually pleases everyone. I'm not against conserving a great resource but I also know that fishing for me is usually feast or famine so I stock the freezer during the good days and know the non-catching days will out number the good ones. This last year was one of the most frustrating ones for me for catching crappie consistantly...no pattern worked day to day or week to week so I've been grateful for the surprising success I've had at the Pomona docks this winter and until I can fish some open water from a boat I'll be doin the "dock stare" sittin on my bucket waiting for the...tap, the doink, the lift, the thump, the hit, the.............good fishing to ya and maybe I'll see you at the docks.

Cant hardly beat the Pomona docks this time of year. I was wandering if you have tried North Shore. I have had a lot of good luck their in years past. I haven't been down this year though. Hard to imagine catching nice keepers out of 7 - 10 foot of water in the middle of winter.

I don't fish Northshore but have heard of some good fish being caught over there even in that real shallow water....and it definitely wouldn't be crowded.

I used to have me a couple of hot spots at lighthouse but, once the docks got moved around I have struggled there. I used to be able to cast out on the furthest set of slips and count down to about 10 and bring it in as slow as possible and do very well. This was quite a few years ago. Thanks for the updates. I might have to try it tomorrow, since I have the day off. Good fishing to ya.

Now I didn't get this info first hand but a buddies friends crackhead brother said his stepmoms babydaddy caught them there back in 2009.

A better idea might be to just fish where everyone else is.

Hey Slabby, were u there on Monday, MLK day, sittin on a bucket facing to the east with a black heavy coat and hood on. I was wondering because I stopped by after trying the lake in the boat to talk with the Chief. I wish that I had known u were there as I would of introduced myself. I was the one not fishin and kinda talked loud as I am constantly being told. Just wonderin. DK

Yep that was me probably sittin in my favorite slip not catchin much that day, the fish seemed to have moved to the outer slips facing north, that's where Haledamage was catching them. I don't remember any extra loud talking and I don't know who the Chief is but would of been glad to meet you and if you see me again ( I have a camo-covered bucket and Artic-Armour black coat) please introduce yourself...I think we know some of the same fisher folks.
