I see they changed the crappie limit from 10 to 20 at Bone Creek unless it's a typo. Maybe they're were getting too many small fish.

Last year at Fort Scott I did pretty well when the water warmed up. The few times I did make it to Bone Creek I didn't have any luck with the crappie. It seemed I made it in time for all the moss to be overgrown and covering my good spots. A few years ago I pulled some nice crappie out of Bone. If the creel limit has raised to 20 I might have to make a few trips down there this year. I stuck around Fort Scott thanks to high gas prices and the creel being 50. Thanks for the info guys and I'll let y'all know when I get the boat out. I hear the trout at Gunn Park are doing better this year than last year.

    Howdy y’all,

I haven’t been out to Lake Fort Scott, but I was able to go out to Rock Creek Lake on the 14th of March. My buddy and I used minnows and he was able to catch a 13’’ crappie in about 13’ of water while he was trolling with a bobber from behind the boat. I used a jig and caught white, and black bass. The water temperature was at 59 degrees and the wind was gust up to 30 from the South. I think here in a few more weeks the water temp will be warm enough for spawning. I have talked to several other people that said the crappie were on the move at Rock Creek. Until next time, Happy fishing!

    AJ Elmer
