    Default El Dorado Ice

Took the dog out for a walk today and she wanted to chase the geese. I had to really hold her back as the ice started to get thin. She doesn't realize that she is a hound dog, not a bird dog.. Silly Maggie... Won't be long before we are fishing through holes. :D Happy Holidays Everyone..

I was about to write a thread to you asking about the ice at El Dorado. Is the lake entirely iced up or just around the shore and coves? Thanks, Tim.

    Tim,

The main boat ramps are ice free (Marina ramp, Bluestem North, Bluestem South, and Sailboat Cove). Area 1 boat ramp has some skim ice in front of it and the 'jumping bridge' boat ramp in the wildlife area up by the turnpike is iced in. Not much ice except in the upper ends of the lake. Main lake area is pretty much wide open. If you get above the causeways, there is ice up there. The 60F temps this afternoon and a little bit of wind has eaten up the ice pretty quickly. The rest of the week isn't looking real friendly towards the 'ice machine' either.

So far, boat fishing is still possible at El Dorado!

Thanks for the info. Shane - You scared with your pictures of the ice on the lake, I was hoping to get out on the water over Christmas break and try out my new toy. It's that time of year when it needs to get cold so we have safe ice or stay warm enough that you can get a boat on the water. You guys have a Merry Christmas. :-)

Close...Hummingbird 798ci. Has GPS, sonar, sideimaging, downimaging, and a 5in screen. I went back and forth between Lowarance and Hummingbird, but chose Hummingbird because of the price.
