Zebra mussel question

Quick question so as to NOT contaminate any bodies of water. I've read up on the precautionary stuff on the KDWP website (draining everything, not bringing bait home, etc.), but I was wondering about my fishing poles and tackle.

I was wanting to fish a couple of smaller community lakes (not from my kayak), but didn't know if my poles, hooks, sinkers, bobbers, etc should also dry for the 5 days before fishing.

Thoughts??

Rods, reels and tackle do not need to dry for 5 days as long as they do not hold or contain water. As long as all of your tackle is dry, you are ok to fish another body of water. The biggest thing is to make certain is that you do not transfer any water, bait, fish, vegetation, etc from one body of water to another. The idea behind the 5 day waiting is to make certain all trapped water from the vessel and trailer has evaporated or been removed from the aquatic ecosystem long enough to kill any remaining villagers or adult mussels.
