    Default Melvern walleyes?

Never fished Melvern and would like to fish it this week. Thought maybe we would try for walleyes and if that did not pan out my girlfriend and I would try for some smallmouth and whitebass. I have caught very few smallmouth and my girlfriend has yet to catch one. If anyone has any suggestions for general areas of the lake to look for walleyes that would be great and I would be very gratefull. Only thing I know about the lake is I have heard Turkey Point area is good for walleyes at certain times of the year. Thanks

The walleye are hard to find this time of year but if you are targeting them your best bet would be around the state park flats and points as well as the cemetery flats just west of the turkey creek arm on the main lake.

If you want to chase the surfacing white bass look around the east side of the turkey creek arm and out onto the main lake. There is a long point that sticks out into the main lake on the east side of the turkey creek arm and the white bass surface there a lot when the wind is out of the south.

    Hope this helps!

Wow, that helps a ton crappieslinger, thanks so much that gives me a start that I needed...very generous of you! I know its a little late for a good walleye bite now but we would be happy with a few quality walleye a day.

For small mouth try casting spinners or crankbaits into the rocks along the dam. Smallies are thick there.

We've been catching them very deep off the dam, 25-40 feet deep. Buddy of mine caught one the 1st on a big squarebill off the dam that was 25.5" and 5lbs 11ozs.
