Went to clinton on sunday for some white bass fishing and the big boats were out so I headed into the trees and found a nice long point that ran into the creek channel. I was anchored in 3 ft of water and it was pretty windy so the point had realgood wave action. So the whites were there and hitting rattle traps on almost every cast. In fact they were all around the boat all I had to do was flip it out and let it go down the ledge from 1 ft to 3 ft and they were slamming it. So I hooked one pretty deep so I laid my rod down on the front deck and finally unhooked it so I throw my lure in the water and wiped my hands off and right when I started to reach for my rod a white smashed my lure and flipped my rod air borne. The fish hit the lure and went under the boat so the went tip first and butt went flying into the air. Missing it with my hand and knowing this was a $500 rig I jumped in after it. Not head first knowing it was only 3 ft deep but feet first and I tried to trap the rod between my legs. Success as my legs sandwiched the very butt of the rod and I reached down grabbed the rod, fought the fish and threw the rod and fish into the boat and then went back to the back of the boat and climbed up the ski ladder. Then I laughed for at least 20 minutes. What a great day.

You are my hero zeepo since I rarely hear of anyone successfully saving their rod after a fish pulls it in!![]()
Too funny!!! Good job!!!

Holy smokes! A $500 rod and reel setup?! I felt bad about spending $70 on another crappie rod a while back and I put a $30 Okuma line counter on it! lol!!![]()
As I was reading your post I was hoping it was not going to end with you jumping in or falling in and getting an... ummm... enema from an unseen stick or stump sticking up!
Good job on saving the rod and reel!![]()
Don't Move a Mussel!!Clean, Drain and Dry EVERY TIME, ON EVERY BODY OF WATER!!
Chatt, no joke just my boney knees saved the day. I have been lucky the last year that I have upgraded my fishing equipment getting ready for retirement in a couple of years. Stocked up on the shimano stradics when they went on sale and I custom make my own rods and I hit a sale on St. Croix Legend extreme blanks and I made up 5 nice rods to cover saltwater to crappie fishing.
