Default 9/11/2001. Where were you when it happened?

I was driving to Fort Scott Kansas with no radio in the company truck. So i had no idea what had happened in New York.
I called my sister to wish her a Happy 30 th Birthday and she was very upset when she picked up the phone. I told her that turning 30 is not a bad thing.... and that's when she told me what had happened.

I was at home doing some odd jobs round the house when the wife called from work. Didn't get anymore odd jobs done that day either.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I was home just waking up - I had been working in the lab late the night before. My wife called to tell me what happened. This hit really hard - I was born and raised in New York City.

I was working at Learjet in Wichita when someone said a plane hit the twin towers. We all thought it had to be some small single engine plane or something like that. It didn't take long after that and every radio station started broadcasting about what was happening. We spent the entire day listening to the radio. It felt good to get home that afternoon and be with family.

Three of us were fishing the submerged and semi-submerged tree rows in the Timble area above the W bridge on Smithville Lake. We would tie up and work a tree lowering minnows on weld rods catching a few and moving on to the next tree. By 8:30 am we had our 45 limit. A bass fisherman came by asking to borrow a cell phone as his battery had run down while talking to his sister in NY City and he told us about the sad and tragic event.

I had just got up to head to college classes and flipped on the TV. Eat cereal and watched the towers colapse. Made it to class at coffeyville community college to do nothing but watch the news and discuss the event.

I was walking to class at KU and a student in front of me was on his cell. He stopped and looked up at the sky and was telling his dad he could see a jet that was turning around headed toward KCI, but he asked if they were all ok. I wasn't quite sure what was going on until I got to class and our professor sent us home after telling us. A little later I was in a 30 minute long line at the gas station paying $6.59 a gallon before it was all gone.
