Went with the family yesterday to Kanopolis. We fished maybe a couple hours and caught a little of everything. As for the KDWPT's fishing report, I don't know that I would trust it! All species we caught had the "infection", I've seen it before, it grows on the outside inward to the muscle. My guess is it went all the way through. It's NOT from handling/releasing the fish, I've seen it almost every summer since the 90's, this year it's just bad, plain GROSS. It looks like scaley hamburger on their sides above the ribs, the whole rib cage. In the 90's we cleaned some whites with this and it was also in the meat. This is the worst I've seen yet, it's a recurring infection and I'm somewhat concerned with the DOWN-PLAYING of this epidemic. It's listed as bacterial/viral in nature. Well, I'm sorry but it can't be both, might as well throw fungal in there too. What is it!? Does it cross the genetic line? I'd bet money it's a man-made infection, maybe a hatchery disease, kinda like dogs get kennel cough. My thinking now is maybe we ought to combine the KDHE with KDWPT so we can get some answers. There are immunocompromised people out there that might become ill from this, maybe even the State Park Mgr. It's a meandering problem, but the answer shouldn't be. You might not think this problem involves you, but the Smoky is the head waters of the Kansas River. Who knows, it might spread down-stream and involve the Asian carp species, which I doubt, since they arrived via sewage lagoons. Just some thoughts, I really don't like being a mushroom, do you.

Thanks LBM for the definition, many people just don't know what can happen to them. My comment of the Mgr. revolves around the fact that he contracted West Nile virus a few years ago. Guess what, that qualifies as immunocompromised along with many other disorders. Everyday people just aren't told the things that can save or change their lives. I'd bet only a handful of people that read this actually know the cause of a heart-attack. I'm gonna leave that unanswered, post your thoughts and I'll inform you later. My only hint is it's a small world. I'm immunocompromised myself, it's the result of a chemical exposure, or a series of them. Turns out the Dr's did just as much harm as the chemicals. I am a trained Chemical Engineer and don't believe most of the propoganda you read. This series of pollutant episodes occurring here in KS aren't just naturally occurring, they're "stimulated" or the result of something else unnatural. This down-playing can lead to serious infections by/to all of us. Antibiotics, fecal contaminations, fertilizers, herbicides/insecticides, trash can-do-are responsible for most of our ill health. I know a Enviromental Dr who claims 70% of man's diseases comes from the water he drinks, hint. Anybody want to go swimming?

Blood is carried by coronary arteries to the heart tissue. The two main causes of AMI is Thrombosis (clot plugs artery) and Atherosclerosis (plaque builds up on arteries eventually plugging them).

serve me up one. Have not been for a while. Went to Grand Lake couple weeks ago - did not do much. Camp ground under burn ban - arrived to late to fish - air bed totally flat in the night - neck pain next moring - bad trip. Gearing up for Dove season opener. Needs to get a little cooler 'fore I go at it. I'm a October through June fisherman wth an occasional summer trip.

Better than Tabors--good answer--but that's more or less acute--gotta go deeper in the hole
My sister and brother-in-law are both RN's, the answer really upset the in-law, especially when he found out I was right. Me, I have no formal medical training, just a lengthy ride through the system. I'm a cause and effect guy myself, those are really effects. However in acute care and acute pharmacology they could be somewhat "causes".

Thanks for the heads up doc...I was thinking about headed up there....guess not....so what your saying is that there is a seasonal condition that has been going on for over twenty years and nobody knows what causes it?...
