    Question Help!!!!!

Maybe one of you wise people can answer my question!!!
I have tried everything to glue silicone skirt material to a jig collar with out
success. I've tried ZAP, super glue, contact cement, 2 part epoxy all without
success. I even called 3M company and they were no help. I know it can be
done because jigs are sold with the skirt glued to the collar for quick change
skirts. Any info will be eternally appreciated!!!

First welcome to the boards from Vermont!!!

As far as glueing a skirt to a jig collar I have never head of it!!! I've seen the the rubber collars, rubber bands, zip ties, and thread tied and even wire but never glue.

I've experimented quite a bit with tying silicone skirts and strands onto jig heads and the only way I could even remotely keep the skirts in place using ANY kind of cement was to first wrap the collar of the jig head with a coarse thread.
Wrap the whole collar and then build up a hump just behind where you want the skirt to anchor. The hump will deter the skirt from being pulled off even if the glue doesn't hold real good. The porous nature of the thread or other dacron will give the cement something to hold onto. Trying to glue two slick surfaces is a science in itself !
Unfortunately, silicone is very resistant to glues and cements. It either doesn't stick or it melts the silicone.
It's frustrating but with some experimenting, a solution will be found !

    Good luck !

Only thing I can think of would be silicone. Other than that maybe some shrink tubing. Silicone would work best, IMO, if you put the skirt on and then silicon behind the collar so it is built up enough to hold it there, that is if the silicone won't stick to it.

Maybe some good quality double stick water proof tape? Or maybe some super tacky water proof poster putty or maybe Mighty putty?
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

i used a glue called lock tight its in a yellow bottle not the lock tight that is red or blue or anything. this is like super glue but so strong and fast drying. it works off the absent of air so when you press the rubber on to the drop of glue it then dries. however be warned it doesn't dry till the absent of air. so be careful i dont want to see pictures with all your tying material stuck to your hand.

    Default Help 2 !!!!!!!

Thanks Ship and also the fella from Vermont for the welcome!!

I think some of you misunderstood what I want to do.
I don't want to tie the skirt material to the jig collar, only to
the little rubber collar thats fits over the jig collar, hence the name
quick change skirts. You can then pull off the old skirt and put on a
new one in a second! They used to sell them everywhere, but now
the collar is in the middle of the skirt and doesn't flare as much. They
are OK for bass, but the crappie like the original better.
However, having said that, maybe you're right Ship, I should just tie the
skirt material to the jig collar, but would loose the quick change convenience.

Thanks to all that responded to this question!!!!

Now that I have more info I think I can see what your looking for the style of the old Hula Popper but with the new materials.

The only one I can think is Terminators Quick Change Skirts Cabela's -- Terminator Quick Skirts

The other place you could check would be FishingSkirts.com, Better Product Better Price for your fishing skirt needs. call them and ask if they have something similar to the Terminator skirts.

Hope this is what you're looking for
