Well I don't completely tie of the chenille until I tie off the hackle feather. Just a few whip finish wraps to hold all and then once the hackle feather is done then another whip finish with all my wraps.

There are more than one way to tie this pattern and some like starting the hackle in front, but I don't. You can tie it in by tying in near the tip and the the wrapping longer parts will end up near the front.

You can do it with the wire rib too, but I am not sure I will keep using a jig long enough to worry about a wire rib. I do use the wire on flies.

I like your idea would prefer to finish in the front if possible but i think i understand enough now to give it a try thanks Skip

Yes I agree any good info on tying different patterns can be found on U-tube or on some good fly tying web sites. Even some do Virtual classes that are good if your computer works well with them. Since I am on satellite it's not as good.

Search patterns on FAOL and see what you find.
