Question Has anyone tryed tying these

    Hey

Just wondering if anyone has tried floating jigs and what type of rig setup did you use also has anyone tried tying crappie jigs on these.

What is the going costs for these is the store, found these for $0.75 per pack is that a good deal or too much?

Around here, most use those for live bait, I've used them for catfish and know some use them for walleye. Fix a weight on your line and they float up to that fixed depth.

Have thought about tying some before, but never have. Thought it could work for bottom hugging crappie in the fall. - AtticaFish

Five heads for .75 doesn't seem too bad. I've never tied on floaters before but as for rigging I'd think rigging the old Lindy rig way would work good as they use floaters for walleye fishing.

A really good book on floaters but old is the Fishing Facts book Lunkers love nightcrawlers but the rigging could apply to floating heads.

Babe Winkleman also has a good book Jig and live bait fishing, and he talks about float head jigs in there.

Have never tried them on crappie, but they work on walleye in the river, when tiped with a twister. Just use a carolina rig setup. And jannsnetcraft. com carries them in bulk, for the guys that walleye fish the Maumee river.

I was wondering if you did tie these up for Crappie and went with a double rig set-up and using the floater above the bottom jig do you think it would stay out from the main line? Just might be worth a try!
