    Default Tying Redux

Recently I’ve been dusting off my old vise, gathering tools, and ordering materials to gear up making jigs again and found this forum while surfing the net. This looks like a great place to learn and share information about crappie (white perch, as we mistakenly call them around here).

I’m from southwest Louisiana (born and raised), and like to fish the local rivers and lakes but for the past 10-15 years haven’t been able to do much. I got into jigging for crappie in the 1980’s and started tying shortly thereafter.

Here are some of the jigs I tied back then, from a photo taken about 1990.

Looking forward to hanging around and learning from ya’ll.

    Thanks,
    David

First Welcome to Crappie.com!!!!! Second nice jigs, as you've seen there is alot of talent on this board with jig tying. Anything you need ask and you shall get an answer but looking at your jigs I'm thinking you won't have many.

    Again Welcome!!

Welcome to the site BA, and some nice looking jigs there. I'm from the other side of the state, in Houma. I do some tying also. Please check out the Louisiana forum and post reports and pictures of your catches there. We really like reports and pictures.

Where you live in SW LA.? I was born and raised in Orange Texas and have been up here South of Hemphill for a good while now. You have to be pretty close to Orange?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and kind remarks! Also, I'm glad to see other Louisiana folks here.

skiptomylu - I live in Sulphur, just a few miles east of Orange.

PawPaw "gene" - Thakks for the heads-up on the La. forum. I post more after I get going again.

1perchjerker - They work very good and are very durable. While crappie fishing they've caught all types of fish other then crappie such as bluegill, warmouth, LMB, gar, bowfin, catfish, and eel, but I guess all jigs have that trouble.

    Thanks again everyone,
    David

Yeah I use to go over there when I was young to all the great bars and see the bands near Vinton back in the 60's. We had some great time over there and had some good friends that lived in Sulphur, but probably more in Vinton. Bobby Kemble lived in Vinton & sometimes in Orange back then before he became a rock star (Toto Lead Singer). I think his mother just passed away a couple of years ago and she was still in Vinton.

I do have great memories of the Bog Oaks Club and all the others too and I still like listening to The Boogie Kings.

Oh and don't forget to check out the main crappie board as that is kind of where all the states come together.
