The basic concept is easy, getting it to look right took me a long time and half a bottle of aspirin. Just a crochet and then putting some kind of head on it was easy. You can hide the rest of it in the head. Getting a nice clean looking head with just the lace was a bear.
It is actually kind of funny that they have so many applications. I initially only made them for salt water, trout and steelhead. I never considered them a panfish jig.
I am actually working with someone trying out tying them on jig heads. They look good so far so I could have something to try this spring in places where I know there are panfish but they are finicky and hard to get them to hit anything.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
