The spring is used to hold longer materials out of the way while your tying materials in.My vise has it but I never find the need to use it.

I am just getting started in tying my own jigs. I have noticed a spring devise on some of the vises I have seen in some of the online pic's. I just recieved a Peak and there is no option for such a thing. What is it, what does it do, where do I get one?

tourdriver, I haven't had the need for a spring either. If you like your Peak as well as I do mine, there will be no looking back. lol Very well made and solid as a rock!
I had a wild hair and ordered all the options for mine. The light is nice but I think I could have gotten by with a cheaper one. The magnifier is nice but I seldom need it for jigs. The trash basket is NICE. If you don't have a designated tying bench ,the white back board is nice also. These are just my humble opinion of course. ole Mike
I been thinking of taking mine off. It gets in the way a lot more than I use it.
