The last couple of fall/winters, my wife and daughter have been knitting / crocheting up a storm - making afghans, TV blankets, shawls, etc as gifts and for charity.
As I was sitting in the chair watching the tube the other night, I got to looking at the yarn my wife was using, and I started to finger it, and then got to wondering....
So yesterday, real quick and dirty like, I got some scraps of the yarn she was using, and tied these. You see here a 1/16 (chartruese) & 1/32 (black) Northland ball jigs (w/ plastic barb - what I had handy at the time), and some yarn scraps. I untwisted the yarn as much as could w/ my fingers, then finished the frizzing process w/ my bodkin.
Had to run a couple errands yesterday afternoon, so I threw a rod in the truck, and the 1/16 oz jig, and stopped at a creek - made 10-15 casts. The yarn will pulse, as long as you are moving the jig, but as soon as the jig movement stops, the yarn droops. This yarn is arcylic (not wool), and fairly thick - lighter yarn or differant material could make a differance. More trial and error, and digging thru the wife's scraps.
