Come on in the waters fine. I still have the first jig I tied. It's locked away so NOBODY will ever see it. Ugly cannot begin to describe that jig. Now, many years later, my jigs look presentable. Keith summed it up perfectly when he said the fish don't care. Welcome to the addiction, and I have to warn you there is no 12 step program to get you unaddicted.

Thank ya'll for your kind words and and pointers. After tying a few of these I can see how you all spend so much time doing this. I didn't leave the house yesterday except to make a trip to the store to get some stronger thread . I was using 6/0 and 8/0 thread and it were hard to deal with, so I took your suggestion and got some stronger stuff - much better. I sat at my table all day practicing tying knots and experimenting with all the different materials. So far, my favorite thing is just tying on a couple feathertips of hackle and a little chinelle. Pretty simple, but I like it and hopefully the fish will too.

Anyway, I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Thanks again.

If i can offer 1 tip when it comes to tying jigs or what ever you tie. TIE 2 of what you tie.
That way you have a backup, if they like it, and wear the first 1 out.

If you are having trouble breaking thread, try some waxed monocord.
Also try some Kip Tail, if you cant stand the feathers. GOOD LUCK.

O for a first time jig tyer, those jigs look good
