    Default Wow

I just had a birthday and my girlfriend got me a Danvise. I have been wanting one forever and I finally got one. I went down to the store and bought all kinds of stuff - marabou, flashabou, jig heads - lead heads and painted ones, bucktails, thread, bobbins - not the cheap ones, head cement, a book on fly tying, and a bunch of other stuff. I got it all home and spread it out on the table where it has remained untouched for three days. I am scared to death of all of it :o. I look at the jig tying forum everyday and I have always admired the jigs you guys show on here, but now I'm looking at them with a different eye and all I can say is, "Wow."

The artist in me says that the jig already exists and all I have to do is assemble it. Then the accountant in me asks, "Since when did you become an artist?" So I guess that means I'm just going to have to jump in and do it. Therefore, tomorrow morning I am going to man-up and tie my first jig. I'll put a picture of it on here if it is post worthy. Hopefully it will be...wish me luck and get ready for a bunch of questions.

My advice is to keep good thread tension and always wrap towards the head.
Holding up is better then looking good. The fish won't care what they look like.
    Only fishermen do.

That is the essence of tying a jig. Well said Keith.

Of course some people make both the ones to catch fish and the ones to catch fishermen:D

Sounds like ya got everything you need. Good materials and equipment go a long ways to a good looking jig. Just give it a shot and ask if you have any questions, good luck.
