Anyone who has trouble with the kip tails, try calf body hair. It really is alot easier to tie with, but there is something about kip tail.
Someday I'll break down and buy a fluid bed but heck I'm set in my ways and still paint and then epoxy cover alot of my jigs.
The pattern jigs with hackle are used alot by trout fisherman on flyrods, I still have an old Vermont Fins and Feathers magazine (early 80's) that has an introductory article about making and tying jigs, but the REALLY neat article in the same mag is tying trout patterns on those same painted jigheads for folks who use spinning rods.
Lot's of innovative ideas on this site. Keep tying up those jigs folks.

Saw your screen name as a mod but thought you must've left??? I guess welcome back and waiting to see some new stuff! - AF
I just want to know what type of paint. I have some bright colors but nothing like them. Guess I might have to go out and find some vinyl. Hard to do the multi colors with powder paint, for me anyway.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
Fish-4-all.
I'm the paint slinger that lays the colors on Crappie Boys jig heads :D:D
The paint I use is "High Solids" acrylic lacquer but I mix my colors from scratch basically. I add raw pigment to a an opaque lacquer base to get the deep rich colors. 2 part epoxy is the finishing top coat.
Each of the jig heads I paint are done by hand with a variety of different brushes. It's the only way to get the consistent coverage and detail in my opinion. It's much more time consuming and tedious than spraying the heads but I take pride in what I do and will go the extra mile to create a high quality product.
I'm getting ready to hit the ice here shortly but I'll see if I have any pictures of some of my other work and post it later.
Crappie Boy is getting pretty good behind the vise :D:D and he deserves a quality jig head and paint job to add his hair, feathers and calf tail too !:D:D
As he's said many times.......Thanks for the compliments ! Much appreciated !
