Let me tell you guys what action means to me. Take marabou and take a jig with a marabou tail and just let it hang in the water next to your boat and troll motor slow and watch it. It looks like it's swimming and with a Roadrunner type bait fished like I do, longline trolling is exactly what I want in Spring and Fall when they are active. Now on the other side when tight lining more times than not I have to dead stick it to get bit in summer or even at night in summer. So I am more likely to use a Hackle tail in summer.
Now if very early spring and the water is still maybe near 50 degrees I may want to use a kiptail jig under a float.
So for me it's just what I feel they want more at the time and for me great action is a bait looking like it's swimming along.
