Default Pheasant Jigs

Here are the few that I worked up. I experimented with palmering some of the feathers and just making a few thread neck style. This stuff is pretty cool looking, I probably didn't do it justice! I think the big jigs I tied (1/8th oz) are going to be KILLER trout jigs down on Tanneycomo next summer.

Let me know what you think. I am going to try a few more out today!

Nothing wrong with them and the fish will give their answer for you! When you Palmer hackle it probably should be the more stiff stuff like on the chicken feathers we use neck hackle for tails and the saddle hackle for collars and palmering as well as they can be used on tails too. Just tie what you think will be a winner!

I see what you mean, I was trying to twist the feathers to make something of a body. These are pretty fuzzy but look pretty "buggy" to me. I am not sure palmering was the correct term. I am having some fun experimenting with this stuff. The straight marabou tails look really good, I think the variance in colors will mimic sculpins pretty good down on Tanney.

On the feathers that look fuzzy, if it's long enough fuzz you can cut that steam to make some little V's with it and just tie in the stem part and let the fuzz stick out as part of tail or all of the tail? Just do what looks good and if the fish agree then your good to go. No matter what you tie, just have fun and do what looks good!
