Floating jig heads

I'd like to try floating jig heads. I'm wondering if its possible it to turn the hook up without ruining it.
I was thinking about holding the shank with needle nose, heating the hook with a bic then turn the hook with other pliers. Could this work? I fish shallow water a lot. I thought I'd put a small bullet weight about 1 foot above the jig and drag the weight on the bottom. Kinda like a drop shot in reverse. I like trying new ideas.

Looks to me like it would make for a lot of damage since the 90 degree bend will mean you would have to make the eye part of the shank cut all the way around to it new place, but I suppose you could use some epoxy to carefully fill that back in, but then would it hand straight or no. Don't think I would to that unless it was on a straight shank hook which that one is not. Maybe someone else has a better idea???

180 degrees I meant to turn the hook so if the jig floats upside down the hook will still be turned up.
If I twisted the hook without heating it would break it.

I think your over thinking this. I would just go fish them and see what happens. Your not going to bend it without ruining it. You heat that hook and twist it's going to break.

You're probably right. I did some searching and saw where crappypappy commented that they weren't practical cause they floated upside down and tend to hang up.

I have some that I haven't even used... I bought them to mess around with sunfish in the river but still haven't done anything with them

Keep it simple, float a jig on a small bobber. At lest you know where you got`em and how deep. With float on hook can`t see get`n out of a hang very easy. Just my thoughts on it. Good luck!

Floating jigheads are for walleye. Fished with them a lot on Pymatuning when i was a young buck. Deadly to drift those with a REAL nightcrawler and a split shot big enough to keep you in contact with the bottom about 2-3 ft. above the jighead.

You can buy jig hooks with the bend 180 to "normal". Might have a tougher time find some one to make them on the reversed bend jig head.

Uhhhh ... not going to work

It's not the floating head that causes the hook to point down, it's gravity. So, no matter which way you bend the hook, in relation to the floating head, the weight of the hook will make it turn to the hook point down position.
