    Default Proper use of.........

Okay, I was wondering if some of the gurus could help me out with a some pictures and explanation. My wife got me and the boys a bunch of different "new" tying materials. Spools of tensile, flashabou, etc. I guess what I am wondering are what are the correct applications of different materials. The most intricate that I have ever gotten is head/thread/marabou/body material. So alot of the flash, tensile, rubber, and such...I just do not know the correct application of them and how to use them. Not so much asking how you do it unless you want to share...I'm looking for how you use it correctly...where does it go...what are you trying to achieve with it.

    Thanks guys!

Good question Scrap, and what I've been wanting to know as well. I've tried different things without really knowing what I'm doing, some with good results some not.

I'm not an expert by no means, but I will share what works for me. I look at different pics and use my imagination, keeping in mind what colors work best for the areas I fish. I also experiment with different colors and techniques just like crappiepappa said. You can also check out different "how to" videos on youtube. Good luck on your tying!

Thanks SFC and pappa. Well its kind of like the other night. Me and boys were tying at the bar, and we got the spool of tensile out thinking we would use it as flash in the tail...well it curls up like a bow from hallmark. lol. So I'm assuming that is not used for flash in the tail. Just stuff like that. There are SOO many materials out there...just kind of wanting to know where it is all actually supposed to be used. lol.

Scrapper, browse thru the "Jig Pictures" Sticky. There's 30 pages of examples there, of everything from plastic body/feather tail to rubber legs, that ain't really legs to using flash &/or tensile in the tail or even AS the tail. Lots of ideas in there.

Most of he time I probably do mine a little different because it can be done faster, but I like one flash strip down each side. I use Holographic Silver or Gold, less Gold. However I do use Gold when I think it will be better as with a jig with lots of black! or I put Gold glitter on the head. I do at times especially on my little Roadrunners is add one strip of Holo Red between the other 2 pieces. So it's slower this way, but it's what I like.

now if I am using Krystal Flash I will use a few more pieces and these are best tied on or in the middle, fold it back and secure it good. This way you need half as much because it will double when tied in. Hope I am being clear, I hurt mt back yesterday some how and have had some plain meds. Don't think I fell to sleep at all last night.

So many different ways to use the materials there is no wrong way. Unless it doesn't do what you want. Hope the back is better Skip, mine isn't great the last couple of days either.
