My First Jigs - part two

I will no longer be numbering these, as it seems somewhat pointless...
also, no "recipes" in order to save space on the Forum.
























Once I get comfortable tying these giant 1/8 oz. jigs, I am going to scale-down to 1/16 0z.

They look good, the only one I would say something about is he last one and when using regular chenille on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig you should Doyle wrap the chenille to make it fit better. Not that it wouldn't work like that, it would just look better.

The jigs all look good and I hope my first attempts look half this good. I have watched several videos where they suggest when you reach the head of the jig to give it one more wrap for a fuller look. I notice on some of yours you have a slight space behind the head. This might be from whip stitching and when you tighten down it draws the single wrap down. This might be where the extra wrap comes into play. It really only stood out to me on jigs 4-5- and 8 and only because I was looking for it. Regardless great job and thanks for sharing.

LOL, When you tie a 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig especially when using the normal #2 chenille size you should double wrap them. You tie it just like you did, but the first time back to the head you just trap the thread again to hold it at the head and hole the chenille along side like the first time and wrap the thread out to near where you stopped it the first time then the thread back to the head and wrap the chenille back to the head over the first time and then tie it off. Hope that is clear enough to get it??

Afterdark, what impressed me is that you are using many different materials and styles. Most folks ease into it slow and try to get comfortable with a given style or technique before moving on. Very good job. I think that several of those have promise and will stand the test of time, becoming favorites. #7, 9, and 10 are very nice. The rubber legged ones will do better than you would expect and be very durable when properly tied. Be sure when tying different materials to stop and maybe throw a hitch or two and a small drop of sally's to make sure that they finish solid. PLEASE don't ask me why I say this, it was a lesson I had to learn the hard way. Keep after it, you're doing very well.
