    Default New to jig tying...

I'm an avid crappie fisherman of 30 years. I have always used plastic tubes, but have recently decided to start using hand-tied feather jigs. I would like to make my own and need some help getting started. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome from Alabama. In addition to the stickies on this forum, you can go to you tube.com and type in jig tying. Also, just post here if you have a question. Someone will help you.

Welcome and you are in the right place. Read up on what we have and then ask what ever questions you have and someone or several will help.
First big thing is you need to decide on what level of vise and equipmenyou want. If you like cllose to any retail places that sell vises and check them out in person. Then read all theeee info you can find to decide on how much you want to spend on that kind of thing. Here is a good study done a few years ago that should help.....

Oh and one last thing which is this is a very addicting thing/hobby so keep that in mind as many are really surprised at how much money someone can put into this.

Let her pick some of the colors, tel her "That's really great honey" and head for the goodie store. Look into a good rotary vise while you read up on them, everyone who has one likes em. A lot.
