    Default best sickle hook?

I've noticed some differences in the quality of the #4 and #6 bronze 90 degree bend hooks lately. The main difference is the barb-some hardly have a barb at all. Where can the best hook for the best price be found?

There is only one Mfg. of Sickle hooks and that is Matuzo. Their QC leaves something to be desired though, however they are the only game in town so to speak!

Sickle hooks are sharper and you don't lose near as many fish due to the great hook up you get with them. Most times with a Sickle you hook them in the roof of their mouths. Most rate about them after trying them, but occasionally a few don't like them for what ever reason. I just tie what ever someone wants.

I tried jigs with sickle hooks and am not impressed. Give me plain old bronze jig hooks. Can't see how bend shape makes any difference. Position at which hook point is and how sharp is all that matters to me. Was given some jigs with red sickle hooks and red rubbed right off exposing cheap gold hook.

Some people love sickles and some dont. I personally do. WAY sharper than eagle claws and wider gap for its size. The red rubs off on all hooks. I prefer black nickle in any hook style. A little Heads Up ... Most eagle claw hooks are made over seas now. You dont see made in america on too many boxes of hooks these days! I know Trokars are made here but check the price on those dudes!
