    Matuka Jig

How would a Matuka style fly tied on a jig, perhaps in different colors be as a crappie fly? How aggressive are crappies and is the length of the feathers a little too long?

Matuka styles work fine - as well as any other fly patterns tied on jigs. IMO the tail is a bit too long, even if you shorten it up the barbules on the feather are going to pulse as you retreive it. Nice tie keep em coming.

Nice tie been years since I tied one but think in the the right color combo it would be a good crappie catcher. Blue feather with white body.or chartruse feather and black body. Now where is that box of feathers. Thanks for the Idea love it.
