I prefer to stop my chenille bodies when I reach the hook point. Try it, see if it gives you the look you are wanting.

I don't know if you're using powder paint, but if you are, here's a hint. Grab your jighead by the eyelet (covering it completly) with a pair of needle nose pliers and then heat and dip. Clamp style forceps will do the same. Saves me a lot of time and cussin'.
I was thinking about using needle nose or maybe even putting masking tape over the eyelet?? you guys think that would work for powder painting?
Your jigs look very nice for your first.
I don't think masking tape would work. The tape may have a bad reaction to the heat. You wouldn't be able to apply the tape to the jig after heating since they cool quickly. Some people use aluminum foil to cover swivels on Roadrunner type heads, but that's a lot of work. You're better off just holding the jig by the eye while you dip.
Don't worry, catch crappie.
Nicely done. Your off to a great start. There are to schools of thought on the chenille. The first I will call the Skip School that that chenille goes to the head and no thread is showing. The second is one I will call Matching the hatch which the thread is showing. If the second school of thought is used the thread must be RED to match the gill flash. Which one do I do Both. Both have there place just personal preference as to which you want to use. Good rule of thumb Use match the hatch method on minnow and bait fish patterns on all others use the Skip School.
