Jig Head Help

I was looking at purchasing some jig heads for tying. I want jigs that are 1/64 oz to 1/80 oz. I really like the grizzly jigs and how they are made but, I want a sickle hook. Just curious as to what the advantages are of how the lead is on the grizzly jig or if I would be better off going with a standard jig head with sickle hook or something similar to a trout magnet. Also, I want to add I will be fishing these jigs under a float. Just kind of curious what your thoughts are on jig head preferences. Advantages vs Disadvantages

I have only seen round head in the 1/64 - 1/80 oz jigheads. they are offered in sickle or aberdeen.... I have used under a slip float with success.... i am not familiar with the grizzly jigs....

I have used the grizzly jigs and had good luck with them but, they don't have the sickle hook. Here is a link to the website to show how the eye of the hook is kind of set down into the lead Grizzly Jigs. So, do you all prefer just the basic jig head? Just kind of getting ideas on what jig heads you guys prefer in a 1/64 oz - 1/80 oz before I buy a couple hundred and start tying.

just a basic round jighead works great under a float. i suggest a loop knot so the jig hangs and moves freely. check the sponsors of the site for some good deals on the heads.

I've never tied a loop knot before... Does it make all the difference? Also, curious if anyone on here makes jig heads that look similar to the grizzly jig co? what about hook size on the 1/80 oz or the 1/64 oz? I was thinking a 8 on the 1/80 oz and a 6 in the 1/64 oz?

I do 10 on 80 and 8 on 64 and yes loop knot makes alot of difference you can google it to see how its tied.

Iam the same way as jiggin joe...And also I pour alot of 1/80 size 10 and 1/64 size 8 for alot of my guys also...njones I make alot for him..

I've seen and used that head style for well over 25 years. The chief benefit from the head and eye shape is that it tends to glide more under a float compared to a round head and it also tends to get hung up a bit less and fall more slowly.

the grizzly jig is made on a dry fly hook, size 10, and there are ways to make your own with solder instead of lead. but I would go with a regular roundhead jig with the sickle jig hooks in a smaller size, they are deadly, I had jiggin joe make me up several hundred a while back. I think I got 1/100, 1/80 and 1/64.
