in threads and What are some good brands?
    2. What materials do I need to make Jigs?
    3. Where is a good place to buy the Materials?
    4. Threads are very confusing I see so many diff. types like waxed, flat waxed, flossed, tinsil, nylon and so on.. very confusing for a beginner

I use Danville flat waxed 210 denier and it works like a charm. As far as materials I would suggest Kiptail and strung hackle for tails and #2 chenille for bodies. I would suggest crazy angler tackle for materials but there are plenty of other options.
any color is fine as long its black and chartruse

Try the sticky at the top of page "Someone new to tying". Answers all your questions and more. A great sticky by some great tyers!

I like 210 denier Danville Flat waxed best and then I also like their 140 denier and I also like Ultra thread in 140. Chenille size #2 is the most versatile.

Lots of places to buy, but Crazy Angler has a lot of stuff at good prices. If you can't find what your looking for there try Bob Marriott's.

To learn how to use different materials and tools try FAOL site as they have a fly tying class type in pictures and lots of good instruction. There is a Beginner, Intermediate and advanced levels. Not that you want to learn to tie flies, but flies also have chenille and you can see how each type material is tie in and wrapped. I learned much of what I know right there and you really got to watch which videos you copy as some are good and some not so good.

Fly Anglers OnLine, Your Complete Internet Flyfishing Resource.
Start by clicking on the fly tying and then Beginner.

Also don't forget the sticky post at the top of this board.

I 2ND that minus the Hackle. Also look at Grandpabobscustomjigs he has a ton of chenilles too. Shipping is a lil slow sometimes but GOOD prices. And Crazy angler Is awsome.

Read my post above again, it says #2 is most versatile, but that is something you will need to decide depending on what size jigs you tie and what kind of chenille it is. No one can tell you that only one size is what you need. You just have to jump in and get your feet wet, but normal chenille #2 works.
