    Default Got bit I guess

I think some way on the trip home I got bit by maybe a spider or something. My Right hand started hurting at the knuckle on my ring finger at the hand. Then started swelling and here I am 3 days later and still swelling & red is here and a more red spot right over than knuckle. Getting tired of this thing.

Had a great Christmas and hope all of you did as well. No tying stuff, but plenty of good pipe tobacco.

Almost don't want to tie yet, but next week I know that I have to.

Better get that finger looked at. Some of those spider bites can get nasty.

Yes definately have the bite checked out and not surprised you did not get any tying stuff because your family and friends probably thought you had everything available on the market for tying.LOL!! Welcome back Skip.

Definitely take care of your finger. Good to hear you had a safe trip other than the spider bite.

Yep! My dad got bit by a brown recluse, ER doctor gave him something and said if it doesn't get looked at to go to his local doctor when he got back home. He started having respiratory problems, the doctor thought it was something else and ignored the spider bite, then my dad made him give him something for it. Moral of the story, don't take no for an answer if there's a problem, and get it looked at!

Glad to have you back. By all means see a doctor asap. Your body is trying to tell you something. When you finish get some cavendish for your pipe and rest. Happy New Year Skip. The fish and the tying will wait until next year.

Well decided to go to the Doc this afternoon and she was going to give me a shot for anti-imflamotory stuff, but said for 3 days absolutely no sugar including alcohol. Well that would normally be ok, but I told her that I was going to have some nice wine tomorrow evening so no shot and I would take my Prednisone that I keep handy for my mistakes with my back. She agreed with me and I came home and now the pain is pretty much gone so one more half pill tomorrow morning and should be done. Made my whole hand or 3/4 of it swollen and almost can't see any knuckles other than the first 2.

Ship I have some really nice aged tobacco that is going to get in a pipe over this weekend, maybe several different ones, LOL! I am just a puffer though, no inhale for me and just love the flavors and great pipes. Mixes with orientals in them really age different than most and start to have a earthy fruit flavor, like plums.

    Thanks guys,

welcome back skip definitely get your finger looked at by a doctor. We have the lot of bad spiders here where I live and we have to be very careful where we stick our fingers especially in the basement and in dark places. We have brown spiders and black widows here plus many other poison things like rattlesnakes and scorpions. So we have to be real careful on the rancher here. We usually kill about 14 to 17 rattlers a year. The black widows we leave them alone. They are good bug eaters though scorpions. We definitely kill they get in the house often on you have to be careful when you put your shoes on.

Your tobacco really sounds interesting. I haven't smoked a pipe in years, but can remember how good it smelled. I quit smokeing a little over a year ago, so I don't know if I could just puff and smell. Hate to ruin a year tobacco free. I can smell it now though.

I have gone completely bonkers over tobacco and putting lots back so it will age a couple years before I even open it since most is sealed or if not I put it in a mason jar and vacuum seal it.

Very slow sips keeping it right and tasting the natural sweetness of Virgina tobacco is awesome. I will at times blow out my nose to complete the taste thing since we use smell for taste too.

Don't start if you don't want to smoke, it's a choice I made to stop smoking cigars because they cost so much for good ones and it's harder for me not to inhale which I don't want any part of after 37 years of Marlboro Reds which I quit in 1999. Didn't want to go back there with that kind of stuff hacking all the time. Just picked up my pipes about 5 months back so almost all of them were bought in the mid 1970's and a few in 1980. I have added a few very nice ones in the last month or two.
