    Default sickle hooks

I've tried the sickle hooks with mixed results. I like the wide bend & they come out of the box extremely sharp (like getting stuck on a briar). I think the wider bend gives you a better bite and hold on the fish after you stick him.

The problem I've had is after catching a couple of fish it seems the next couple I stick come unglued pretty quick. I check the point but can't feel anything different but I have to think it might be because the point is damaged.

This year I intend to keep a small file with me to touch up the point. I don't think it's as strong a hook as the others which is not always bad as it hangs up a little more because of the wider gap and sharp tip.

Most of the hooks I use now are Eagle Claw 570's and I open the hook up on these just a little to get a better bite on the initial hookset.

I use a few #2 Gamakatsu's but only on weedless jigs because they are expensive and very strong. You're going to lose a lot of these when you hang up.

Those sickle hooks are for sure sharper and hook deeper in the mouth. My favorite size is almost impossible to find a #6 sickle jig with a 1/16 head.
Yes I love #6 hooks for most of my fishing. I do have some baits that I use #2 and#4 with, But for the most part #6 with a 1/20 oz head is my go to jig.
